Look Into My Eyes

~ Australian grid attacked; Linux saves the day! ~

This just in from around the world! More reasons why Linux rules! =P

This isn't the first time we've heard of an institutional virus outbreak -- even the crew of the International Space Station had a neat little scare not too long ago -- and now various outlets in Australia are reporting that Integral Energy, which supplies energy to homes and businesses in New South Wales and Queensland, has suffered a particularly nasty visit by the W32.Virut.CF virus.

When all was said and done, the company had to repair all 1000 of the facility's desktops. Furthermore, the Sydney Morning Herald reports that the company's anti-virus software hadn't been updated since at least February! Between the lack of anti-virus updates and the fact that segregation between the company's main network and the grid was "typically none at all," this story has all the makings of a disaster.

Luckily, the grid itself runs on Sun Solaris -- and when control systems became infected, how did they fix the mess? That's right: by replacing them with Linux machines.

A word to the wise: they do make anti-virus auto-updates for a reason. ;-)

Hehe, thank you for your favorite of "130 words of me!"

Oh..um, wait..did I already thank you? O.O"
Goodness, sorry. lol, but I even so, I just wanted to thank you again!

By the by, I read your journal and you're very informative, I'm hoping to get into some of my own school's psychology classes thanks to it now. The human mind is a fascinating thing. Also, I was looking through your poems and other work, and it's so sweet and heart felt, I feel I'll be coming back to read more of your work for a long time to come. Thank you for being you. ^.^

*Adds to watch*

I adore the sound of a bendy straw when you stretch it out to put it in your drink, to MAKE it bendy.

It's the little things in life that make me happy. :)

A werewolf too. <3
:iconhealyhq:
Haha! Yes, you did indeed thank me once - actually twice - before, but thank you for thanking me a third time! It makes me feel special, even though it is you who deserves all the thanks! :thanks:

I'm glad you found my journal entry to be informative. Sometimes I'll write interesting things in there. Then again, other times, I'll write complete nonsensical and random things as well. Eh...you never know with me. My mind is an enigma... (:milk:)

You think some of my poetry is sweet and heartfelt? That's wonderful! I'm glad someone out there enjoys some of my work! I'm the kinda guy that feels that, if I can change one person for the better with my poetry, then it will have all been worth it. :D

Of course, not all my poetry is written with that in mind...sometimes I write simply to vent my own emotions. Everyone has their own way of dealing with stress. Mine just happens to be, more often than not, poetry.

And a big :iconwatchmeplz::iconwatchmeplz2::iconwatchmeplz3: as well! I feel so honored to have a writer who writes with such emotion to actually watch me. I feel so special now! :iconiloveyouplz:

Hehe, I made you feel special? Now my day is made! :D
And I understand how you feel with some poems used to just vent your emotions, I do the same thing, just probably not as fluent with words as you. Hehe, but as you said, everyone deals with their stress in their own ways. And no worries about your journal, I love to read informative stuff, as well as random nonsense; it makes life a bit more interesting to me.

And thank you for the watch, I feel so honored. Hehe! And for the compliment. You seem like a one-of-a-kind guy, and I look forward to watching/talking to you more. :)

Thanks again, and have a wonderful day!

life's like a journey, and whats important about a journey is the journey itself not the way it ends.
